EMPLOYEE INFORMATION

DISCRIMINATION & HARASSMENT

An employer cannot treat employees worse because of “protected characteristics”, such as:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender reassignment

  • Marriage and civil partnership

  • Pregnancy and maternity

  • Race/nationality

  • Religion

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation

The law on discrimination and harassment is governed by the Equality Act 2010. Under it, you must show that:

  • (a) there was worse treatment, (b) The worse treatment was due to one of the afore mentioned reasons

If you consider a discrimination or harassment case, you must prove that you meet both requirements. Discrimination is a complex topic that requires in-depth analysis, so if you think you have been a victim of discrimination or harassment, please contact me.
